Women who are/have experienced Domestic Violence may not be able to access the services of Women’s Aid Dundalk in rural areas. This may be as a result of; Not having access to transport, or if she has the milage may be checked by the abuser and she would have to account for the miles accrued. Having to account for her whereabouts. She may be timed while on errands such as shopping etc. She may live in a rural or isolated area.
The Outreach Service is vital to these women as it allows them to access our services and so receive support and information. The Outreach worker will meet with the woman in a venue that the woman feels is a safe place for her, eg. Women’s Aid Support Service Office, a local community setting etc. Currently this service is available in, Omeath, Carlingford, Dundalk, Tallanstown, Ardee, Carrickmacross and Dunleer.
